LISTAS Youth Leadership Program

 

The LISTAS Youth Leadership Program (LYLP) was created to expose and motivate young women and their families to pursue careers in historically underrepresented fields through partnerships with local colleges, universities and organizations. The LYLP includes mentoring, college preparation, personal and professional life skills, and an immersion of careers in STEM2 (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Management) through interactive STEM activities and workshops. 
 

Program Highlights

  • Be mentored by a successful Latina Professional

  • Visit(s) to local colleges and universities

  • Tours of local leading technology companies

  • Program Dates: February – May 2020 

    • Feb 22 - Orientation (Parents/Students/Mentors)

    • Mar 07 - Session 1

    • Mar 21 - Company Visit/ Museum

    • Apr 04 - Session 2 

    • Apr 18 - CAL Day

    • May 02 - Graduation

 

Qualifications

  • Reside in Bay Area

  • Grade: 8th – 9th Grade

  • Interested in a career in STEM2

  • Must attend all sessions - Mandatory

 

The 2020 LISTAS Youth Leadership Program will be hosted at the Makerspace at the Hayward Adult School.  We will meet on Saturdays from 8:00am – 2pm.  Attendance to all six sessions is mandatory. Breakfast/Lunch will be provided.

MENTORS

Are you interested in being a Mentor?

We are looking for a mentors to work with a selected number of student participants.  Mentors are key to the success of this program.  If you are interested in being a mentor and can participate in monthly meetings please apply in the below form.
